Two healthy smoothie bowl recipes
Two healthy Smoothie Bowl Variations
Today I have two colorful healthy smoothie bowl recipes for you. Despite the cold season, you should treat yourself with a Smoothie / Smoothie Bowl every now and then for breakfast or as a snack because it’s good for the soul and it’s good for the body too (a real power breakfast). A Smoothie Bowl contains a lot of vitamins especially if you add certain ingredients like Chia seeds, flaxseeds or nut butter. By the way, adding nut butter is so delicious, can’t live without it anymore. My favorites are peanut and cashew.
How should the consistency of a smoothie bowl be?
A smoothie bowl should have a thick consistency, as this type of smoothie is intended for spooning. This consistency can be achieved with a nut butter but also with yoghurt (I love coconut yoghurt in my smoothie bowl) and oats. The Smoothie Bowl gets creamy when you add frozen vegetables/fruit. But it’s too cold for me at the moment, so I add a non-frozen banana and mix it e.g. with frozen berries (but also only a small cup).
Topping Ideas for healthy smoothie bowls
Especially important in a smoothie bowl are the toppings. You can get creative with the toppings. There are no limits! Here I have some topping ideas for you: cocoa nibs, coconut flakes and/or chips, Chia seeds, hemp seeds, fruits, nuts, chocolate (Fun Fact: I could eat chocolate with all sweet dishes), dried flowers and so on. There are so many delicious toppings and I find this part especially fun. The most important thing about a smoothie bowl is that you use ingredients that you intuitively like or that you generally like.
Berries = Superfood?
These power Smoothie Bowl Recipes are a mixture of vegetables and fruit. I love to add spinach because there’s a lot of iron, vitamin C and protein in spinach. It is also very good to use it for green smoothies (I’ll show you the recipe in another post). Not to forget: Berries are also a real superfood because they are rich in vitamins and they are also rich in antioxidants. That means: “Antioxidants render free radicals harmless.” In this sense, they counteract the toxins of the environment.
